Achieved AARP/World Health Organization (WHO) age-friendly community designation: September 6, 2022

  Domain: Communication and Information

The main focus is to increase and broaden communication options with the community

This will be achieved by the following implementation efforts: (partial list)

  • Creating a city electronic newsletter; which may include major neighborhood projects and community events
    • Include resources the county offers
    • Also disseminate information through updated electronic billboards, banners and kiosks
    • Include links to SMC alert, Seniorline newsletter and Help at Home Guide published by San Mateo County
  • Establish database for seniors and people with disabilities to be contacted in an emergency and help assist in an evacuation
    • Compile names from voter registration, census information and door to door campaigning
    • Develop whole campaign on gathering contact information
